Rachel has had a cough for a few days. And over the weekend she slept a lot and didn't really eat that much. So I figured I should take her to the doctor to find out what's going on.
I called this morning, not sure if I could get an appointment since it's the day before Thanksgiving. We weren't able to see Dr. Williams, but could get in with one of the nurse practitioners. Sounds good - as long as we could be seen before the holiday.
Rachel got weighed first - 13 pounds, 6 1/2 ounces. WOW! Up 11 ounces in two weeks.
Then we met Miss Judy. She asked a lot of questions, examined Rachel's ears, nose, listened to her chest, took her temperature. She wanted to do a test for RSV, so she had the nurse come in and try to get some "stuff" out of Rachel's nsoe to test.
We had to wait about 15 minutes for the results, but good news - no RSV and no fever. So we were told to just use saline spray and decongestant spray by Little Noses, along with using the bulb syringe to suck out the mucus. The cough was probably caused by post-nasal drip since her sinuses were so congested. And if she's not better by Saturday, they recommended coming back in.
We'll see how it goes.

And...?
She still has a terrible cough, no fever and is very stuffy. We bought a humidifier we want to try for a few days to see if that helps, and if not, probably back to the doctor...any other suggestions?
Sounds about right. That's exactly what I would do as well.
